SEO, or Search Engine Optimization, is an ongoing process. When you’re new to blogging, it’s often the deciding factor whether you will rank on content you’ve written.
For a while now, I have been using a new technique that is:
- Ethical
- Future proof
- Easy to implement as a beginner
- Makes sense on so many levels
If anything, the SEO Avalanche Technique and Keyword Golden Ratio strategy are my favorite methods when starting a niche blog.
The Difference Between KGR & Avalanche SEO
The Keyword Golden Ratio goes by a simple math formula where you divide the allintitle results by its keyword volume.
If the number is under 0.25, it’s considered a KGR keyword.

The Avalanche SEO technique is even simpler:
You need to find keywords that have zero search volume and zero keyword difficulty in the beginning. It’s a tier-based system.
What Is The Avalanche SEO Technique?
It’s a simple way to acquire organic traffic without backlinks.
The majority of niche blogs are hunting for backlinks, and that requires a lot of time, effort, and sometimes even money.
But with the Avalanche SEO technique, you should find keywords that have zero search volume and scale from there.
It follows a traffic tier system, displayed below:
Tier | Monthly/Daily Traffic |
---|---|
Level 0 | 0-10 |
Level 10 | 10-20 |
Level 20 | 20-50 |
Level 50 | 50-100 |
Level 100 | 100-200 |
Level 200 | 200-500 |
Level 500 | 500-1000 |
Level 1000 | 1000-1500 |
Level 1500 | 1500-2000 |
Level 2000 | 2000-3000 |
Level 3000 | 3000-4000 |
Level 4000 | 4000-5000 |
Level 5000 | 5000-7500 |
Level 7500 | 7500-10,000 |
Level 10000 | 10,000-12,500 |
Level 12500 | 12,500-15,000 |
Level 15000 | 15,000-25,000 |
Level 25000 | 25,000 – 50,000 |
- You target longtail keywords with zero volume
- You start ranking on keywords that you never realized you could
- You build topical authority with minimal effort
According to Chris Carter, he suggests search engines rank websites for different keywords, but based on a traffic tier.
The higher the search volume, the harder it will be for you to rank, and therefore, it will be much more difficult to acquire organic traffic.
Every website, new or old, lives somewhere on the World Wide Web and is placed in a “tier”.
Let’s assume you’re starting from scratch, then you’re at the bottom of the tier table (0-10 visits monthly), or level 0.
There’s no point in aiming for level 25000 when you haven’t created enough content or are unable to prove with data that you can jump a few tiers.
If your niche blog has 0-10 visits, then you should only target keywords with a 0-10 search volume until you reach the next tier.
Once you acquire enough traffic and your average increases, you move to the next tier with new keywords that are placed within that keyword volume bracket.
How To Use The Avalanche SEO Technique
- Make a list of 100+ keywords that have zero search volume
- Start clustering them
- Use a simple content template as a guideline
- Follow a strict content plan
- Publish 1-2 posts per day until you have published 100 blog posts
A single keyword with zero search volume might provide you with 1 visitor each month, and it doesn’t seem much.
But at scale, this can turn into a snowball effect (avalanche) where upcoming bloggers can rake in traffic like no other.
Once some of them start ranking, you should try to find another 100 keywords around that topic.
- You build topical authority
- Safe against algorithm changes or Google content updates
How To Write Your Blog Posts?
You could use a simple template like:
- Intro + Answer
- Subheading
- Subheading
- Subheading
- Final Word
Always focus on quality and ensure you’re writing for humans, not search engines.
You can use AI to assist you with copywriting, but keep it to a minimum.
Don’t worry about the length of your blog posts. As long as your content is:
- Informative
- Benefits the reader
- Well structured
I do prefer to write the answer in the first paragraph (if possible), or above the fold, and add the details in the rest of the blog post.
Most readers skim text first and aren’t willing to read a 1000-word blog post to find an answer.
Final Word
The Avalanche SEO technique is a viable method for beginners in blogging.
Combine it with the Keyword Golden Ratio strategy, and you’re on your way to catching thousands of readers in no time with zero backlinks.
Zero search volume keywords are never zero, even when keyword tools indicate they are.
This technique is not primarily focused on catching traffic, but rather building topical authority through underserved keywords.
