As a blogger and content creator, I can guarantee you’re going to hit writer’s block once in a while. And it’s okay if a few slumps along the way.
I’ve never encountered anyone who can maintain an equal level of passion for writing and motivation without experiencing burnout or even losing interest, which leads to minor setbacks.
When I hit one of those slumps or feel demotivated, I have a list of actions I can perform that can rekindle my spark for blogging.
Writing Shorter Content
Not every blog post needs to be 1000-3000 words long. So instead of me pushing for long-form content, I often try:
- Write simple, quick tips in the form of a listicle
- A list of resources or links I love to visit
- A quote or a reaction I found on social media, and provide my opinion
Those shorter blog posts keep your momentum alive and are ideal to fill your schedule.
Weirdly enough, I find a lot of inspiration in those tiny posts that lead to additional content.
Take A Break
A mental break can do wonders. I caught myself staring too much at my iPad Pro without writing anything.
Once that starts to happen, I often stop writing for a day or two.
Another blogger once told me that when you’re trying to force the writing too much, it only makes your writer’s block worse.
Recycle Old Content
If you can’t find inspiration, then maybe this slump is a window of opportunity to read and recycle your old content.
- Take notes when I read older content for inspiration
- Update some of the content, if you can provide new insights
- Turn your best-performing content into a how-to guide
- Add an infographic to older content
These methods require less effort than starting from scratch.
Watch YouTube Content For A Day
I do that often. But of course, the content needs to be related to your niche or blog.
Especially if I want to take a break from writing, then YouTube is the number one source for inspiration.
Those content creators explain it often better than AI agents, and it provides me with deeper insights on specific topics.
Remembering Why
Motivation can dwindle if you forget the true purpose of why you’re doing this. So maybe take a break and ask yourself why you started blogging.

Revisit your purpose and notes, and determine what you plan to gain out of all this.
This can often serve as a reminder of why you were once so passionate.
Final Word
Starting a niche blog is exciting, but it can get dull sometimes if it’s always about the same subject.
It’s common for bloggers to hit a slump now and then. But there are many ways to regain traction. It’s okay if you can’t write for a day or a week.
It happens.
There’s no outside pressure for you to hit a certain publishing quota. Even if your audience expects you to write and publish, maybe write a short post, you’re taking a break for a while.
