How Often Should Niche Bloggers Post?

According to blogging experts, an average of two and five times per week would yield better results and a significant increase in organic traffic.

Quality trumps quantity.

Many upcoming bloggers have been trying to game the system with AI content, publishing dozens, if not hundreds, of articles per day.

But that strategy was short-lived lived and Google punished them for it.

Frequency

What matters in being a successful blogger is consistency.

Nobody likes outdated blogs.

I’ve discovered many blogs where the creator or author’s last post was 2 years ago.

Search engines like consistency.

Their crawlers scour the web every second for fresh or updated content.

Remaining consistent in your blogging efforts will boost your visibility and SEO.

How Often Should You Post?

That’s going to depend on the type of blog. But here’s what I would suggest:

  • Personal blogs – once a week
  • Corporate blogs – twice a week
  • Niche blogs – 6 times per month, and scale it gradually
  • Trending topics & news: 4 times a week

Of course, nothing prevents you from publishing more often or less. Depending on the urgency or goals.

Ask yourself:

  • Is the blog a passion project to express my thoughts?
  • Do I want to monetize my blog in the future?
  • Am I trying to acquire leads or traffic for my business?
  • How much time can I dedicate each week?

There are plenty of bloggers who started with passion and ended up making it their full-time income.

Content Strategy

Having a strong content plan is critical.

Ideally, before launching your blog into orbit, do the following:

  • Write 15-25 articles, or at least drafts
  • Plan, preferably 3 months ahead
  • Publish 1-3 pieces and revise

Allocate enough time for research (keywords, topics, and fact-checking) and start with a simple system that works for you.

It’s best to start publishing at a slower pace and gradually increase the frequency.

If you publish too frequently without buffer content, you’re setting yourself up for burnout or a scheduling gap.

I can’t decide for you.

Every individual has different things going on in life (work, family, and kids,…), so decide on a doable schedule you can stick to.

Blogging requires:

  • Proper research
  • Ideation phase and drafting
  • Editing & correction
  • Publishing & final touches
  • Revisions once it’s published

There’s an entire cycle you need to go through, and writing those drafts is only part of the process.

Don’t Give Up Too Early

Don’t be discouraged if you can’t keep up a consistent schedule (yet). A lot of seasoned bloggers I met over the years have put in sweat and tears in their first two years before seeing positive results.

Most of them make 5-6 figures now, after years of zero earnings.

Not because they’re the best, but they were consistent and obsessed with content creation.

There are millions of abandoned blogs, and most of them fail or give up within the first 12 months. Usually right before the results are pouring in.

Some of the reasons why they’re abandoned:

  • Lack of traffic and readers, which causes a loss of interest in updating the blog
  • Lack of planning and content strategy
  • Underestimated the time required to maintain a blog

Final Word

There’s no strict rule on how frequently you should publish blog posts. But consider it a marathon and not a sprint.

If you’re able to remain consistent for 18 months, you beat 95% of the bloggers out there.

Blogging is not dead, and I am convinced it will remain relevant for decades. It can be a recession-proof model if you plan to monetize it.
